Guesthouse Ponciana is situated on the top of the hill in Ifafi which give the most stunning view over the Hartbeespoortdam surrounded by the Magalies Mountains.

Our motto is : Ponciana is Hartbeespoortdam at its best and hospitality at its warmest. We host our guests in Afrikaans, English, German, French and Dutch.  The 3 spacious en-suite rooms (Secret Garden – Vineyard and Sea View) and 2 suites (Ponciana and Wild Bush) are the combination of the African feeling with high European luxury standards.

Belgian hospitality combined with a delicious champagne buffet breakfast in the morning enjoying a fantastic view, service and luxury facilities makes Ponciana Guesthouse the place to stay.  All our rooms have Queen size beds, airco, mini-fridge, hairdryer, Tea&Coffee facilities, 22 channels DSTV/DVD player, digital safe, guest amenities. All bathrooms have toilet, wash stands, rain-adjustable showers and heater-fans.. All rooms with private entrances and terrace. High security and secured parking on the premises.

The Ponciana Suite (Honeymoon suite) has a King size bed with tempur mattresses and adjustable bedframe, an all-surround cinema system and lounge seats in the room. The bathroom has a special massage shower, corner bath and a separate toilet. From the big private terrace with deck chairs you can enjoy the most beautiful African sunsets.  The Wild Bush Suite is our family room with 2 separate bedrooms (up to 5 people), separate toilet, a lounge seat corner in the room and a private terrace with view on the dam.

A big swimming pool in a lovely garden, private gym-room with infra-red sauna and professional equipment, an unique 38° Hot Spring Jacuzzi with 39 jets and special neck-and back massage, a patio-lounge and the Highlander bar with pool table, darts and a wide range of Belgian and local beers and wines are the ingredients for a perfect holiday or break away. 

We offer conference facilities up to 17 people. The conference room is very private and is equipped with projection screen, flip board and fax facilities (overhead projector on request). Conference packages on request.

Every month we have special packages with activities in the area such as micro-flights, game reserves, hot-air ballooning, Day Spa and body treatments, horse-riding tours, quad bike tours or steam train trips.  Airports shuttles on request and with our travel agency Pongoa Travel we also arrange guided day trips tours and safari’s in the area.

Pretoria is situated 28 km South East, OR Tambo Jo’burg is 80 km and Lanseria Airport is only 25 min and is ideal to continue your travel schedule to Cape Town.  Brits Industrial Area, Pelindaba/Necsa and Gerotek Test Circuit are at only 10 minutes. Pilanesberg National Park (Big 5) and Sun City are on 1 hour drive.

We are very well located for 2010 Soccer World Cup. Stadiums in Pretoria are on 25 km , Johannesburg with 2 stadiums on 85 km and Rustenburg 75 km.

Location: The Hartbeespoortdam is situated in the Bojanala region of the North West Province. The dam, surrounded by the majestic Magalies Mountains (12O km long and 1852 m in altitude), was constructed in 1923 and the lake is 2062 ha and has 56 km border. Pretoria is situated 28 km South East and Johannesburg International Airport "O.R.TAMBO" (80 km) is approximately 1 hour drive. Lanseria national Airport is only 30 minutes drive and is the ideal place to continue your travel schedule from Hartbeespoortdam to Cape Town.

Pecanwood Golf and Country Club

Jack “Golden Bear” Nicklaus is the name behind Pecanwood’s golf course that has been carefully crafted to test your skills to the full. The fairways are generous and inviting, the greens immaculate all year round, and our teaching professionals will gladly assist those who wish to improve their game. High mounds, carefully crafted water features and strategically placed bunkers have been set amid the scenic mountain surrounds and vast expanse of water to add to the overall experience.

Sandy Lane Golf Club

This nine-hole course (18 tees) provides a challenge for both low and high handicappers alike. Narrow fairways and water hazards aplenty certainly test all golfers accuracy. The green on the signature par three 6th hole extends out into the dam and is surrounded by water on three sides.

Very much a bushveld course. It hosts the "HEINEKEN BRITS OPEN" (August) and the "VODACOM BB-STABLEFORD" (August) of every year.

Magaliespark Country Club

Magalies Park golf course is an 18-hole course designed by Loutjie van Aswegen. Here, the total length of the course is a men's 5 864m and a ladie's 5 001m. The course rating for men is 72 and for ladies is 70. While the course may not be very long, it does not however mean that the golfer can take out his driver and play to his heart's content. A number of small trees have been strategically placed and although there are few water holes and no bunkers this is not a course for the faint-hearted, making for a challenging game of golf any day.

Designed by Brown, Bauman & Campbell, the club has recently been upgraded & converted to PennA4 bent grass. The Club host The Platinum Classic, the richest event on the winter section of the Sunshine Tour, the only 9-hole course that host a P.G.A. tour event. The club also hosts the annual "KING FISHER" tournament in January.

World Cup Soccer

South Africa is organizing in 2010 the World Soccer Cup. Different stadiums are localised in and around the Pretoria and Johannesburg area . Ponciana Guesthouse will offer special packages for the Soccer-fans. There will be special arrangements based on your stay at the Guesthouse with shuttles to and from the stadium.
